SHERYL CARTER NEGASH
Sheryl Carter Negash is the Principal Consultant of The Carter Leadership Collaborative LLC, where she designs culturally responsive programming in leadership, organizational development, and change management to drive social justice and economic equity. A Yale graduate and recipient of the prestigious Yale Medal, Sheryl’s work is deeply rooted in her lineage and lived experience as a Black woman, which she channels into advancing performance excellence and equity across sectors.
My Story
Sheryl Carter Negash is the daughter of Thomas (Factory Worker/Construction Worker who traveled north from the South during the second wave of the Great Migration), granddaughter of Frederick (Pullman Porter who died young because the local White hospital refused him treatment), and great granddaughter of Floyd (Entrepreneur who was enslaved during childhood). Sheryl believes that her lineage and lived experience as a Black woman inform her professional expertise as much as her education and work experience. Sheryl holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University.
As the Principal Consultant of The Carter Leadership Collaborative LLC, Sheryl specializes in developing and facilitating innovative and culturally responsive programming in leadership skills enhancement, organizational development, and change management. With clients across the private and public sectors, she provides assistance and guidance to organizational leaders intended to advance performance excellence, social justice and economic equity.
Sheryl’s volunteer service has included holding leadership roles with Civic Influencers, Coalition Against Racism in Education, Yale Black Alumni Association, YaleWomen, YaleLA, and the Yale Alumni Association Board of Governors. Between 2016 and 2018, Sheryl co-chaired the Yale Alumni Taskforce on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In 2018, Sheryl was awarded the Yale Medal, the highest honor given to alumni for service to and on behalf of the University.
