With over 25 years of experience, Stacie L Walton, MD, MPH, has served as a clinical Pediatrician, Diversity Champion, and Communication Consultant. Her extensive experience as a medical consultant for healthcare providers and institutions is evident in the variety of platforms she has utilized, from Grand Rounds to interactive workshops, and the numerous venues she has worked in across the United States, including Puerto Rico. Her work in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging has made a significant impact in corporate board rooms, non-profit social justice organizations, and communities healing from the Pandemic and George Floyd’s murder.

Recently, her cultural competency themes highlight the impact of Implicit Bias and Privilege in patient interactions and health outcomes and highlight strategies for decreasing hidden biases in both personal and professional settings. Utilizing the latest insights from neuroscience research, strategies to reduce implicit bias emphasize strengthening skill sets, which include self-reflection in mind and body responses, as well as enhancing facility in a growth mindset, embracing the competencies of emotional intelligence, and the skills to mitigate personal and organization microaggressions to develop work teams of inclusive practices.

In addition, she has focused on the Equity issue of racial healing. Over the last six years, she has immersed herself in racial healing, restorative justice, trauma awareness and resilience training. In 2018 she co-founded a Coming to the Table local group in West Sacramento, which is structured to bring people together to have brave conversations about race using the indigenous practice of healing circles. She has taught classes at California State University at Sacramento with the Renaissance Society and the California Northstate University campuses incorporating racial healing circles, empowering and motivating her students and the community.

She majored in Cultural Anthropology at Stanford University, graduated from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, trained at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and earned her MPH from the University of California at Berkeley.
